I’m Syd.
Storyteller | Writer | Editor |
I’m a brand journalist. I use an editorial lens to build brand identity and awareness. From an early age, I could often be found sitting cross-legged in a corner fixated on a magazine, buried under covers with a page-turner or scrawling away in a notebook. It wasn’t long before I was gripping a reporter’s notebook and penning stories on whatever stirred my curiosity.
My work includes internal communications for a Fortune 100 corporation, marketing and communications for a public four-year university, and reporting and copy editing for Arkansas Democrat-Gazette niche pubs, the Arkansas Times and its auxiliary publications, and sites like The Kitchn (check out some of that writing here). I’ve also helped brands with their editorial content strategy, reputation and marketing needs. I earned my chops at the University of Missouri School of Journalism, where I studied magazine publishing and management, and carry those values in the work that I do.
When I’m not reporting and creating content, I’m supporting nonprofits near and dear to my heart. I’m communications co-chair for nonprofit Ashley’s Kloset and as an advisory board member for the Celebrate! Maya Project.
